One Planet Living
Rooted in expert ecological and carbon footprinting analysis, One Planet Living® comprises of 10 simple principles that cover every aspect of sustainability and is used to design communities that enable people to live happy, healthy lives within the boundaries of our planet’s resources, while leaving space for nature to thrive.
These principles will be used to guide our own goals to ensure that our vision and masterplanning process considers best practice in sustainability.
How does it work?
One Planet Living® is a set of 10 principles used to plan, deliver and manage development that is sustainable according to the environmental limits of the planet and offers a good quality of life. Our goals include:
- A low impact and resilient place
- Climate safe and resilient buildings and homes
- Walkable, cyclable, local and well-connected by public transport
- A local community and garden town
- Diverse mix of uses for all
- Accessible, playful and interactive public spaces that strengthen its identity
- Local employment, education and training opportunities
- Protecting and enhancing local biodiversity and networks
- Multifunctional and useful green spaces
- Supporting biodiversity and habitat connectivity
